Back in 1997, INTEND's founder, Marcus Doublard, was working for historic fabric reproducers Guy Evans Ltd. At the time, interior designers had to select samples blindly, ordering them over the phone, subject to a lengthy process in determining the fabrics that would be ultimately ordered.
Marcus recognised the potential to develop websites with user interface library systems, which allowed designs to be presented and sourced online. He went on to work with what is now the British Institute of Interior Design, on an early website portal for finding designers and suppliers under one umbrella. In 2001, Doublard Design was founded, and partnered with Decorex International, the renowned luxury design show, to provide mini website's to many of its exhibitors. Respected suppliers including Andrew Martin International, Bill Cleyndert & Company, After the Antique and Jean Monro, subsequently engaged Doublard Design to design, develop and maintain their websites and content management systems. Since then, the company has built an extremely strong reputation within the interior design industry and beyond, delivering industry leading websites and bespoke content management systems to showcase companies and their product ranges beautifully.
In 2018, Simon Johns joined, and the company was re-structured and re-branded to INTEND Technologies, aligned with our leading product name, INTEND. Simon brings many years of experience running software businesses internationally, from start-ups to publicly listed companies.
Our development of Content Management Systems evolved to include elements of Inventory
Management and the lack of solutions specifically focussed on our client needs, became evident.
Our clients were increasingly seeking inventory management, sales order processing and client
information functionality to streamline their businesses. Recognising this demand, and with a
deep-rooted understanding of fabrics & wallpaper, we focussed on developing a robust
solution for the specific requirements of suppliers to the interior design industry.
Having an understanding of how the interior design industry operates and its peculiarities,
placed us in a strong position to create software that overcomes many of the challenges that our
clients face, and to put them in a better position to focus on running their business rather
than manual processes.
INTEND automates the management of sampling, stock reserves, faults, piece batches, proforma &
trade discounted sales and everything in between. It interfaces with multiple accounting systems
and when linked to our clients' website, can achieve straight-through-processing.
Our mission is to offer the most progressive web-based software solution across the entire
industry. We constantly interact with our clients to understand how we can improve the system,
adding new functionality and modules. This way our clients get tremendous value from their
subscription, benefitting from the collective requirements of the Intend client base. The
software is constantly
evolving and today INTEND also handles lighting, furniture and accessories, including component
(bill of items) management.
We have ambitious plans for the future too. Come and join us, along with the rest of our niche
client community in developing, what will ultimately be, the most comprehensive web based
software solution for suppliers to interior design industry.
